Everything to know about the gourmet tour of the Lyon Peninsula

The gourmet tour of the Halles de Lyon is led by our team of food guides, specially trained in the world of Lyon gastronomy. They know the artisans and producers of the Halles personally, as well as their stories, their expertise, and the inner workings of their establishments. This is not a generic tour: it is an immersion fueled by relationships of trust built over time with the people of this place. Our guides are also bilingual in French and English and are accustomed to leading professional groups of all sizes and profiles.

The Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse is no ordinary covered market. It is the only covered market in France that brings together so many houses of gastronomic excellence under one roof: master cheesemongers, artisanal pork butchers, exceptional fishmongers, chocolatiers, pastry chefs, wine merchants... Some of these establishments supply France's finest Michelin-starred restaurants.

The place owes its name to Paul Bocuse, the most famous chef in Lyon and even in France, who supported and embodied for decades this vision of gastronomy of excellence that is accessible. Today, the Halles are both a lively market frequented by the people of Lyon and a high place of gastronomic pilgrimage for food lovers from all over the world. There is no equivalent in France in terms of the concentration of expertise and product quality under one roof. It was even voted the 3rd best market in the world in May 2026!

The Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse are open all year round. However, it is not possible to visit the Halles during the month of December, which is the preparation period for the Christmas holidays. The month of January is particularly quiet with some businesses on vacation, as is the month of August. Apart from that, all other months of the year are suitable for a visit to the Halles. Please note that the morning is preferable to experience the characteristic atmosphere of the Halles: lively, and with all the shops open 😉
